Chief Fire Officer, Jo Turton, said:

It is about us being there if ever the incredibly difficult event of being diagnosed with a terminal illness or disease becomes a reality. Today, alongside the Trade Union Congress, we signed this charter to make sure that peace of mind of their job security is never at risk.”

Caerphilly County Borough Council

Thank you to Caerphilly County Borough Council who signed the charter on 6th September 2018 providing protection for their 8,700 employees.

Leader of the Council, Cllr Dave Poole, said:
“Caerphilly CBC considers its 8,500+ workforce to be its most important asset and we already have comprehensive support mechanisms in place whenever any of our employees are faced with difficult illnesses. University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust

Thank you to University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust who signed the charter on 22nd August 2018 providing protection for their 6,000 employees.

Thank you to Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils who signed the charter on 7th August 2018 providing protection for their 555 employees.

Chief Executive of Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils, Arthur Charvonia, said:
“A terminal diagnosis is among the worst news a family can receive, and when faced with it no one should have to fear for their work and their livelihood. By signing this charter Babergh and Mid Suffolk wish to lead by example, and provide at least a small measure of support and security to families going through such emotional stress.”

Thank you to Banner Jones Solicitors who signed the charter on 27th July 2018 providing protection for their 130 employees.

East Midlands Ambulance Service

Thank you to East Midlands Ambulance Service who signed the charter on 16th July 2018 providing protection for their 3,344 employees.

Director of Human Resources and Organisational Development, Kerry Gulliver, said:
“When someone receives the traumatic news that they are facing a terminal illness they shouldn’t have to worry about keeping their job. “We are signing this pledge as further commitment to supporting all of those in the EMAS team.”

Blythe House Hospice

Thank you to Blythe House Hospice who signed the charter on 14th July 2018 providing protection for their 77 employees.

North Lanarkshire Council

Thank you to North Lanarkshire Council who signed the charter on 28th June 2018 providing protection for their 14,500 employees.

Council Leader, Cllr Jim Logue, said:
“We have always tried to support our workers in the best way we can and by signing the STUC’s ‘Dying to Work’ campaign we have made a clear commitment to all our staff that they will be treated with dignity and respect should they receive a terminal diagnosis. It’s shocking that there is currently no protection from dismissal for people with terminal illnesses and I would call on the Scottish and UK governments to legislate to address this issue.”

Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust

Thank you to Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust who signed the charter on 15th June 2018 providing protection for their 2,300 employees.
