Chief Executive , Mark Jarman-Howe, said:
“As an organisation dedicated to helping local people facing incurable illness, we are all too aware of the impact a diagnosis of life limiting illness has on people, not only in their daily lives but in the workplace too. “I am delighted we have signed up to the Dying to Work Charter and we are committed to ensuring that we demonstrate the same compassion, dignity and choice to our staff, as we do the thousands of people we support each year across north east Essex. “No-one facing incurable illness should have to endure unnecessary emotional stress and uncertainty because of fears they could lose their job. Thank you to Cambridgeshire Fire & Rescue Service who signed the charter on 16^th January 2024 providing protection for their 624 employees.

We’ve signed the Dying to Work charter to show how they will continue to be supported should they have the tragic diagnosis of a terminal illness.” Assistant Chief Fire Officer, Jon Anderson, added:
“We have always supported our staff that have had to deal with a serious illness diagnosis, so signing the charter is something we are very keen to do to encourage other organisations to show their commitment to staff wellbeing.”

Thank you to City Building who signed the charter on 7^th November 2023 providing protection for their 2,000 employees.

Thank you to Kirklees College who signed the charter on 25^th October 2022 providing protection for their 884 employees.
